Job Summary:
The Controller/Director of Accounting works under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer on a variety of accounting duties including, but not limited to:
- Manage and assist with the month-end close process for the Operating and Property entities.
- Prepare or approve monthly accrual accounting entries including wages, accrued revenue, production bonus, etc.
- Enter and/or approve all journal entries and supporting information as necessary.
- Review entries and discuss issues with direct reports and/or CFO as appropriate; be proactive.
- Use data/reports from the billing system to support monthly analysis and review of revenue accounting and adequacy of accounts receivable allowance balances based on payer mix.
- Work with billing to promptly reconcile unapplied cash, refunds, and other billing related activity affecting accounting.
- Reconcile AR and Balance sheet accounts, including listing detail components of the ending balances.
- Maintain the general ledger and accounts payable system including maintenance, upgrades, workflow improvements, etc.
- Maintain fixed asset accounting and depreciation, providing tax required schedules of additions, deletions, and transfers.
- Review and improve the allocation of expense methods currently being used for the organization.
- Review daily banking/cash balances and initiate cash transfers as necessary.
- Work with CFO to improve the financial reporting structure of the organization, including revamping the month end reports.
- Perform Ad-Hoc analysis as requested by the CFO.
- Maintain/prepare MNCare surgery center tax and sales/use tax returns and payments.
- Lead the year end external financial review and annual 401(k) Audit.
- Prepare required government surveys.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The Controller/Director of Accounting supervises and develops personnel in the accounting department who are responsible for accounting, accounts payable, and payroll entry/approval processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
- CPA (active or inactive) preferred.
- Strong GAAP knowledge preferred.
- 3 years of accounting experience in healthcare field preferred.
- 2 years or more of supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience using accounting software and ability to generate reports.
- Experience doing Ad-Hoc analysis of financial related data.
- Good overall business acumen.
Skills & Abilities:
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel (intermediate user), Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Multiview or NextGen experience preferred.
- Strong organization skills.
- Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a continuous improvement environment.
- Strong work ethic and initiative.
- Ability to review and analyze data with accuracy, identify and resolve financial discrepancies, and prepare precise and insightful financial statements and reports.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. This position is 100% in-office due to the nature of the duties and responsibilities.

Compensation & Work Schedule:
- Full-time: 40 hours/week.
- Exempt.
- Day Shift: Monday-Friday.
- No evenings or weekends.
